Il Carrubo is a stunning waterfront property offering amazing panoramic sea views within a stylish and elegant setting. The house is surrounded by a lush garden with many trees, blooming flowers and diverse paths that lead down to the sea; while the interior is tastefully decorated and excellently furnished with antique pieces. The owner’s nautical background and love of the sea is self evident throughout the house, both in family photos and many lovely seascapes.
In keeping with the rest of the house, the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs are all equally as comfortable and charming, with all of them enjoying stunning sea views, some having lovely private terraces.
With its proximity to both Rome and central Tuscany, the Argentario offers access to an impressive variety of both Roman and Etruscan ruins, as well as magnificent forts left behind by the Spaniards who ruled here in the 16th and 17th centuries.
On a more contemporary (if less worthy) note, the shopping is not bad either. The old fortified harbour tow of Porto Ercole is a pretty place to stroll, as are the nearby towns of Porto Santo Stefano and Orbetello. There are boutiques worth visiting in all three, as well as local markets. You could even take a day trip to inland Tuscany, have lunch in the beautiful medieval city of Siena, and be back in time for a late afternoon swim.
