Granaio di Maria

Built on a hill of olive trees and vineyards with views across the valley towards La Chiesa Gattaiola in one direction and the walled city of Lucca in the other, “Il Granaio di Maria” (Maria’s Granary) provides discerning travellers the rare opportunity of enjoying an extremely comfortable and stylish home from which to explore the delights of this much sought after area of Tuscany.

The ancient granary is set in the grounds of a small estate containing a sumptuous Renaissance villa owned by a charming, aristocratic Roman family. The estate is situated around 5-10 minutes drive south west of Lucca, approximately 30 minutes from Pisa’s international airport and around 40 minutes from the seaside and fashionable resorts such as Forte dei Marmi.

Lucca is well known for its maze of pedestrian only streets within its walls, its charming shops selling food, trinkets and clothing, interspersed among the churches and other medieval buildings with their striped Romanesque facades.

A major feature of “Granaio di Maria” is its “pieds dans l’eau” access to a lovely swimming pool, set in a walled garden, which is a veritable suntrap. On the upper terrace is a gazebo with comfortable seating and dining area, which can be used by guests.
